About Me

The author smiles at the camera.

I'm an instructional designer, assessment leader, and former educator with more than 20 years of experience creating learning experiences, assessments, and educational content.

My career began in the classroom, where I learned to think about learning from the learner's perspective: What do people need to know? What gets in the way of understanding? And how can we tell whether learning has actually happened? Since then, I've applied that perspective to digital learning, assessment development, curriculum and content design, and learning strategy for organizations and audiences across a range of industries.

Throughout my career, I've worked both as a hands-on designer and developer and as a leader responsible for improving processes, guiding other content creators, and establishing standards for high-quality learning and assessment. I enjoy taking complex information or an ambiguous learning problem and turning it into something clear, purposeful, engaging, and measurable.

Accessibility and inclusive design are also central to my approach. I believe effective learning should work for as many learners as possible, and I consider accessibility throughout the design and development process.
